On the morning of November 13, 2023, hosted by the Graduate School/Graduate Work Department of Chang'an University, hosted by the School of Architecture and Xi'an International Science and Technology Cooperation Base “Xi 'an Green Urban and Rural and Territorial Space Smart Construction Technology Innovation International Science and Technology Cooperation Base”, co-organized by the Graduate Science and Technology Association of the University, "Rainbow" Lecture 503 was successfully held in the Bosheng Lecture Hall of the East Campus. Academician of Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, University of New South Wales Distinguished Professor DeoPrasad gave a lecture entitled "Moving Beyond Sustainable Built Environments - Decarbonisation, Resilience and Regeneration". A total of more than 240 teachers and students from various colleges of our school participated in the lecture. The lecture was presided over by Professor Yu Kanhua, Vice Dean of the School of Architecture.
With the passage of time, the Sustainable Development Goals and sustainable development have taken root in people's minds. To combat climate change, increasing attention is being paid to decarbonizing cities and the built environment supply chain. The built environment therefore needs to focus on key issues such as circular economy, resilience and regeneration. To break through the traditional thinking of "harm minimisation", a systematic approach is needed to integrate circular economy, resilience and regeneration in planning and design to achieve better decarbonisation. In this lecture, Professor DeoPrasad elaborated the path of building resilient city and realizing carbon emission reduction in built environment from four aspects: the background of sustainable development of global built environment, the circularity and decarbonization of built environment, the resilience and regeneration of built environment, and opened up the road of advanced sustainable development of built environment.
After the lecture, Prof. DeoPrasad patiently answered the questions of the students, expanded the new vision of the future research on sustainable development of architecture and environment, and inspired the students to think deeply about the decarbonization of buildings.
